Holy Week Schedule

We encourage everyone to make every effort to participate in the worship services planned during Holy Week.  They are meant to move us from the triumphal parade of palms as Jesus enters into Jerusalem through the final days of his early life and to the awesome Good News of the Resurrection on Easter morning.

Palm/Passion Sunday

With the singing of “Hosannas” we will remember Jesus’ entry into Jerusalem.  The sanctuary will be decorated with palms to help us get in touch with that important event.

Maundy Thursday Communion

7:15 p.m.

Holy Communion was instituted in the Upper Room as Jesus celebrate Seder with his Disciples.  In John’s Gospel, the focus was also on Jesus washing the feet of his          disciples.  This year, we will celebrate communion.  But, we will also be having a    symbolic foot washing where some volunteers will model this act of service.

Good Friday Tenebrae

7:15 p.m.

The focus of this service is moving into the darkness of the crucifixion.  Through a    dramatic reading of the Passion Narrative, the sanctuary is gradually moved from light into darkness.  This is one of the most dramatic services of the Christian Year helping us to get ready for Easter.

Easter Sunday

With the trumpet and the spring flowers and the glorious music and the powerful        biblical text, we gather for the central message of our faith—the Resurrection of Christ.

As we prepare our minds and hearts for the events of Holy Week, we thank all of our musicians who are working diligently to help lead us in these experiences.
